It definitely involves a white primer :)

With regards to primer thanks for the advice on testing the can, however I rarely prime by can these days and choose instead to prime via my airbrush. I usually use a Vallejo Poly primer (either white, grey, or black depending on the model and desired results).

I find the airbrush to be much more reliable and easily controlled in terms of consistency.

All of that said, I'm afraid the Deathwing project may just be relegated to adding a squad or two of Deathwing to my current Dark Angels force.... You see I was hit with a bad case of hobby ADD last month and just kicked off the build of my Angels of Absolution (still want to paint bone armor :) ) tournament army. I'll be appropriating a number of the above terminators for this project (the ones without Deathwing-specific iconography).

For the Lion! :)

Re: Incoming: Deathwing!

hey! WAIT! Please don't prime your Deathwing in black, it will very hard to get the nice bone white color if you do. Try and find a nice white primer, and test if FIRST on something. Even a review on a spray primer doesn't cover if the can is BAD. Thanks!

For The Lion! Can't wait to see how the Secret Weapon bases look. Back to assembling marines..... *sigh*

Re: Eldar Tournament Army

Dave, thanks for the opinion. It's actually something I do struggle with when I play against marines who can split units to hold objectives. Rather than using my units to take an hold I tend to try and root them out with ballistic weapons and then "run in" with whatever guardians I still have alive. Unfortunately, you are correct and as it stands I can only hold a max of 3 objectives assuming my troops actually survive that long. Do you have a troop choice preference? I'm thinking it may make sense to put together 2 squads of 5 jetbikes (22 points each plus 1 Shuriken cannon) and loose the Vyper. They are aweful in CC but keep with my theme of last minute objective holding.

Re: Eldar Tournament Army

In my personal opinion, I think you would benefit from more Troops in place of the Vyper. This (near enough) 2000 points army doesn't seem to have enough Troops choices for objective-based games.

Re: Quick Tip: Terminator Shoulder Pads

I sure do, it's at http://www.proimperator.com...

It really should show up somewhere on the template.... how silly is it that it doesn't! Thanks for the heads up that it's not obvious though, I'll take a look at sticking it somewhere....

Re: Quick Tip: Terminator Shoulder Pads

Hey, do you have an RSS? in order to follow you via google reader?

Re: Showcase: Space Marine Chaplain

Thanks for the positive feedback. I'm glad to know I'm not alone. It seems odd to have to shoot up a half stop or more, but I suppose when you're dealing with something so small it becomes necessity! Good to know I'm not nuts :)

Re: Showcase: Space Marine Chaplain

No worries man, I normally shoot at anywhere between F/8 and F/12 and I'm always half a stop up as you suggested, if not more depending on the back ground and colour of the models.

Good stuff, they look good though (Just checking out your libby now!)

Re: Showcase: Space Marine Chaplain

Thanks! Yeah I'm actually playing with lengthening the exposure time a little bit too. Oddly enough those photos were "properly" exposed according to the light meter. May try shooting a half a stop up and see how they turn out. For me, shooting things this small is a real challenge. At macro focus lengths on the lens I'm shooting with right now the focus depth is pretty narrow so I'm trying to crank down on the aperture as much as I can. The photos above I think were only taken around f/5 or f/5.6. Currently I'm shooting more like F/22 so that I can get more of the model in focus. Thanks for the feedback!

Re: Showcase: Space Marine Chaplain

Hey dude, great painting! I like the photo of this guy a lot, the lightbox is a great thing hey!!

It's so nice to be able to isolate your models for viewing, but like you said, I have found a lot of things through this that I am not happy with and have since gone back to re-paint.

For the photo, maybe try lengthening the exposure time or like you suggested, might be a good idea to get some brighter lamps.

Keep up the good work!

Redscorps
